Ministry of the Interior in Prague

The number and locations of MOI branches has been changing since we started the business many years ago. It is likely that they will change soon again. As of now though, there are three branches of the Ministry of the Interior in Prague. Even though you can (by the law) go to any of them, it is strongly recommended to go to the one responsible for the part of Prague where you are living.

Ministry of the Interior in Prague 4

This branch is responsible for people living in Prague parts number 2, 4, 5 and 10. The only exception from this rule is students who have their own designated branch (see below). If you live in any of the districts mentioned above, you should go to the Ministry of the Interior in the following address:

Cigankova 1861/2
Praha 4 – Chodov

Their official opening hours for all agendas are as follows:

Mon:  8:00 – 17:00
Tue:   8:00 – 15:00
Wed:  8:00 – 17:00
Thu:   8:00 – 15:00
Fri:     8:00 – 12:00 – for appointed clients only (it is not possible to go and wait in the line).

Important note: Even though the official opening time is 8:00, they often open already at 7:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Navigation: This branch of the Ministry is best reachable by buses # 154 and 197 from Chodov metro station to “Na Jelenach”. When you exit the bus, you have to cross the main road and you can not miss the Ministry of the Interior. It is a concrete building in the middle of nowhere 🙂

There are three entrances:

– closest to the bus stops – this one is for applicants from non-EU countries
– middle on (facing the main road) – this one is for appointed clients and mainly for biometrics
– left entrance (close to the new car wash) – this one is meant for EU citizens and their family members

Ministry of the Interior in Prague 6

This branch is responsible for people living in Prague parts number1, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 9. The only exception from this rule is students who have their own designated branch (see below). If you live in any of the districts mentioned above, you should go to the Ministry of the Interior in the following address:

Zukovskeho 888/2
Praha 6 – Ruzyne

Their official opening hours for all agendas are as follows:

Mon:  8:00 – 17:00
Tue:   8:00 – 15:00
Wed:  8:00 – 17:00
Thu:   8:00 – 15:00
Fri:     8:00 – 12:00 – for appointed clients only (it is not possible to go and wait in the line).

Important note: Even though the official opening time is 8:00, they usually let people in the building at about 6:15. That is especially handy in winter if you need to go the re at 6 am and wait in the line. The door to the waiting room usually open at about 7:00 so you can even use a bathroom or have a coffee (not like in Chodov).

Navigation: The easiest way to get to this branch of the Ministry of the Interior in Prague 6 is to catch a bus #225 from Nadrazi Veleslavin metro station to “Sidliste Na Dedine” stop. When you leave the bus, you need to do around the building to get to a small square (look for a Billa sign). You will then see where to go.

Ministry of the Interior in Prague – student branch

As mentioned above, if you are a student (meaning you have 23 or 24 code in your visa, not 99), it does not really matter where you live – you always need to go to the following branch of the Ministry:

Hladkov 682/9
Praha 6 – Stresovice

Their opening hours are as follows:

Mon:  8:00 – 16:00
Tue:   8:00 – 16:00
Wed:  8:00 – 16:00
Thu:   8:00 – 16:00
Fri:     8:00 – 14:00

Important note: There is officially no option of you going there and waiting in the line. So the opening hours mentioned above are all meant only for appointed clients.
