Can Brazilians apply for the Czech Digital Nomad Visa?

Yes. The program is limited to citizens of Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Brazil was added as the program expanded, so Brazilian passport holders are fully eligible.

The program is administered by the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade together with CzechInvest, and it's aimed at IT specialists and marketing specialists who work remotely.

The two routes: employee vs freelancer

There are two ways Brazilians can structure their application:

1. Employee of a foreign company - you stay employed by your company abroad and work remotely from Czechia. You apply for a long-term visa "for the purpose of other." Your employer must have at least 50 employees internationally to qualify. 

2. Freelancer/Contractor - you hold a Czech trade license and invoice your clients. You apply for a long-term visa "for the purpose of business."

Family members can join you under a "purpose of family" application. 

Income and financial requirements

The income requirement is tied to 1.5x the average Czech salary, which currently works out to roughly 75,000 CZK per month (about USD 3,500) - a threshold most remote professionals meet comfortably. Specifics for Brazilians applying

• Criminal record: You'll typically need a background check from the Brazilian Polícia Federal, apostilled and officially translated into Czech. Brazil's membership in the Hague Apostille Convention makes this straightforward.
• Where to apply: Brazilians can apply at a Czech Embassy in Brazil or at an embassy in Europe (Dresden is a popular, efficient choice). Best place to apply depends on your situation. Applying in Brazil generally has the advantage of applying on the home ground and only coming to Europe once your visa is approved (so there is no risk). On the other hand, applying from Brazil take significantly longer due to the need of securing accommodation distantly and mailing documents back and forth. • Documents: In most cases, you will need a criminal check and a university diploma. All documents must be physical originals (no scans or simple copies), must be apostilled and then officially translated into Czech language.
